The preface of the book Lie and Persecution in the horror of Dunwich HP Lovecraft was written by Stefano Mazza young talent emerging in the field of critical studies Lovecraftian. Let us quote here an excerpt:

... Several scholars have labored to identify the moral and symbolic overtones that make up The Dunwich Horror, which is certainly one of the most widely read and popular of all production Lovecraftian, but despite this still seems to remain somewhat controversial and not fully understood in all its aspects. The reason for this lack is probably the hybrid nature of the multi-story, which includes some traditional horror and weird, that, to be Machen's Great God Pan, The Horla of Maupassant and others, from which Lovecraft manages to take something new and modern, with its typical and unmistakable vein. The Dunwich Horror is thus a reading still full of ideas for interpreting the modern reader and the critical, since the narrative elements that are part of strong ambiguity of meaning that have not yet been investigated at all and who do not deserve to be belittled or ignored. In the past, some critics have trivialized the story calling it a usual Manichean story of good (the prof. Armitage) versus evil (the Whateley, the Horror and Yog-Sothoth), others such as Donald R. Burleson, have instead read as a parody of the classic gothic tale. These and other similar interpretations are indeed possible and give an account of some marginal aspect of the story, however, has the defect of not investigate beyond the surface meaning of the very first story. Here then comes the need to deal systematic, rigorous and scientific The Dunwich Horror to get on top of its many components, but also the many dynamics that are intertwined with the texture of the story (...) The solid work of Andrew and James Becherini Bencistà responds to its' need to get to the bottom as far as possible to fund the many levels of interpretation possible in the story and dispel the doubts that the interpretation of various poses, with lucidity and clarity than ever before. In this sense, it must be said that this essay is the first worldwide to address systematically the Dunwich Horror with such a spirit of investigation and, even, to do so with such illuminating depth. Il risultato dell’opera di Becherini e Bencistà è, infine, una vera e propria guida capace di aiutare il lettore a capire ciò che succede a Dunwich, quali are the various aspects of each force in the game, what is the role of the two monstrous twins, to put it another way, what are the ways through which to escape the maze semiotic Dunwich ... - HP Lovecraft FILMS OF HIS TIME
ST Joshi. The well-known biographer
Lovecraft offers fans a first (and only for the time being) survey on the preferences of HPL in terms of cinema. The critic has extrapolated From the letters of the writer - Published and unpublished - to search for his comments on the films he saw, and what it is, especially in light of some salacious remarks Lovecraft on film now considered a cult, as the "Dracula" in 1931 by Tod Browning, thought-provoking on the view from the Master of Providence horror written and visual. Thanks to Joshi, the tastes of HPL film finally came to light!
- THE FILMS OF PREFERRED
Lovecraft by Darrell Schweitzer
.
One of the biggest things Lovecraftian expert tells us what was, of all the movies that he loved most HPL, a film that saw her four times and also had an unexpected influence the genesis of the story "The Shadow Out of Time". Surprisingly, this film, Berkley Square (known by us as the strange reality of Peter Standish) does not belong to the horror genre, but it is a historical fantasy tinged with sentimentality, whose main character (played by Leslie Howard, who later became famous with the Part of Ashley in Gone with the Wind) is a young scholar and introvert who lives more in the past and present. In practice, almost perfect portrait of the same Lovecraft!
- THE STRANGER IN FRONT OF THE SCREEN: THE VIEWS OF THE CINEMA Lovecraft, edited by Stefano Mazza
We are pleased to present its world premiere here in the translation of some letters Lovecraft coming from his correspondence, still unpublished, with Robert H. Barlow, his literary executor. In this correspondence, Lovecraft is often improvised film critic, and offered his friend (and now we readers) his critical acumen on many of the films he saw. This correspondence is a first-hand testimony of great interest to understand what was the opinion of the writer on the films of his time, some forgotten, others made today to the rank of true classics.
- THE STRANGER BEHIND THE SCREEN: THE FEAR, AND THE CINEMA Lovecraft
Stefano Mazza

A thorough overview of the history of Lovecraft to the big screen, which reconstructs a Lovecraftian filmography that started in the fifties to arrive today. That of a complicated relationship with Lovecraft cinema, here is addressed and investigated in no uncertain terms, film after film to demonstrate the lack of communication between the writer and visions to the screen.
- Charlie the comic, HP Lovecraft Lovecraft
A poem dedicated to Charlie Chaplin and translated here for the first time, a curiosity that HPL sees as one of the first admirers of a genius of cinema.
- Lovecraft ON THE CINEMA , J. Vernon Shea
A friend of the writer, who had a close epistolary relationship with him, speaks of the passion for HPL Film .. Another witness in addition to other material in this booklet.

- HP Lovecraft IN ITALIAN CINEMA INDEPENDENT
Francesco Cortonesi
A first glance at the multifaceted world of independent cinema and amateur Lovecraftian in Italy, and the low-budget films - but not for less interesting - who tackled the issues of the Cthulhu Mythos. "Dark Awakening" by Marco Magni, "Pickman's Model" by Giovanni Furore, "The Call of Cthulhu "Ivano Russo, are some titles that will drag in the cosmic maze of Italian products more obscure and unknown from the work of HPL
-" the silver key ": A FORGOTTEN FILM
Massimo Berruti
Berruti sheds light on what, surely, is now the rarest and least known films (and perhaps the most faithful to the story which is taken from) the film was inspired by HPL: The Silver Key. How many of you have had the good fortune to see him when, in 1981, and went through the first and only time on the networks of RAI, before disappearing into the ether?
- Terrorists GEOMETRY Non-Euclidean: STUART GORDON THE RETURN OF THE CINEMA, Luca Luca Foffano
The excellent Foffano us new insights into the film by Stuart Gordon from "The Dreams in the Witch-House", comparing the film with the story Home HPL.
- SUPERNATURAL HORROR IN DVD: "Lovecraft COLLECTION" THE FILMS lurker, Luke Foffano
Foffano still deals with the already legendary "Lovecraft Collection" edited by Lurker Films, a series of short films and putting together the best the world has presented in past editions of Lovecraft Film Festival, which takes place every year in Seattle, a popular event well known among scholars of lovecrafiane things.
- CINEMA IN YELLOW Lovecraft, edited by Massimo Soumare '
In Japan, Lovecraft has become a favorite subject for filmmakers and screen writers. It is the expert Massimo Soumare, writer and critic in Japan, and Japanese curator of "Alia", the only Italian magazine of fantastic fiction, to guide us in this fascinating journey in which also acts as interpreter and translator.
- IN-JAPANESE HORROR CINEMA Lovecraft: An Interview with J. Konaka Chiaki, Pietro Guarriello
We present a real treat: an exclusive interview, released exclusively for the magazine, for one of the greatest writers of the fantastic Japanese and world cinema: J. Konaka Chiaki, who here speaks of his fascination with Lovecraft and who drew inspiration from his work.

Lovecraftian Studies # 3 - Special Studies Dagon

From site: http://www.horrormagazine.it/notizie/2206/

Lovecraftian Studies No. 3: Special Dagon
is released the third issue of Lovecraftian Studies, monograph on Dagon, the enigmatic and fundamental story of the writer in Providence.

Third appointment with Lovecraftian Studies, the journal that debuted last summer, amateur and has distinguished itself from the beginning to the very good level of content and actions proposed. This new edition does not disappoint: it is a monograph dedicated to Dagon, a story written in 1917 when for the first time appears the enigmatic creature pisciforme, who was also the first to create this imaginary world made up of places and superhuman beings born the imagination of Lovecraft. Finding new ideas and interpretations to be proposed on "Dagon" was not an easy task, but the goal was, however, pursued by Pietro Guarriello and his companions with his usual skill and safety to which we abituati.

- THING THAT LIVES INTO THE ABYSS: "Dagon" Lovecraft & "THE Foghorn" Bradbury , Francesco Cortona . A comparative study between two stories of two authors seem very far apart, turn out to be surprising to a careful comparison of the texts, and argue in favor of rewriting bradburiana classical HPL.
- DAGON LANDING WHEN 'IN NEW ENGLAND , Pietro Guarriello & Gianluca formwork. The two authors, Sherlock Holmes hat on his head, investigate a curious source of Lovecraft in folklore and history of colonial New England. Everything starts from the historical facts about the mysterious Mount Dagon ...

Lovecraftian Lovecraftian Studies

La grande editoria, da diverso tempo a questa parte, seems to show every day more viscous inertia in the initiatives that relate to HP Lovecraft and, more generally, everything revolves around the fantastic genres. In sharp contrast to this negative force, there is a real publishing undergrowth teeming with colorful characters and novelty always ready to bloom: the plot is formed by fans and scholars alike, as it were amateurs, the fantastic view Italian, for that spirit of initiative and expertise brought in the field have little to envy even in comparison to what happens abroad. Il titolo della neonata rivista non è casuale: si richiama In fact, the legendary Necronomicon Lovecraft Studies published by the American Press and, like these, there is the aim of promoting and deepening the analysis of the issues that revolve around Lovecraft, his creations and his world. The first issue was already rich and engaging, this second release is even more refined and solid in content and confirms the previous high level of Lovecraftian Studies, doing well hope the fans of the writer, who can find a reliable point of reference, as well as an opportunity to meet and work confronto.Gli the second issue, still hot off the press, are:

- The myth of Cthulhu: an approach pragmatic Massimo Berruti . Lengthy investigation that closely examines the semiotics Lovecraftian creations, the contextualized, they expressed the symbolism and the possible different meanings that they have legions of readers. Certainly one of the best essays written on so-called 'Cthulhu Mythos'.
- Tours of Providence Luca Cesare Foffano . Detailed style guide badeker, pleasantly old-fashioned, made a trip to Providence in search of roots, places and Lovecraftian influences.
- Special Dossier: Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos in Japan .
