Lovecraft BLACK & WHITE: We are now accepting applications!

After the preview Lucchese, the volume is now ready and copies are now available to be ordered . In Lucca the book has aroused much curiosity in all environments, was received with the greatest enthusiasm by all the authors involved on the ground, and was also praised and admired by fans, publishers, editors, printers, journalists, having also a some success with the public, significant for a small company like ours.

Meanwhile, it is also just out a flattering review of Mauro Boselli the book "Dampyr" November, accompanied by the reproduction of three panels of the book: "There can only show three" - Boselli says - "to an obvious lack of space (...) But there crying my heart not to be able to show also dreams and fantasies of creepy Rotundo, Enoch, Frau, Olivares, Gabos, Palumbo and all the other artists. It should not be overlooked the dense and evocative texts accompanying each drawing or a fine introduction to one of the greatest Italian experts of the comic, Luigi Bernardi ... "

Boselli publicly thank you for your kind words, and, like him, we are confident that fans will not remain disappointed by the excellent book, which is already preparing to become a milestone in the comic strip and Lovecraftian. So hurry up and order your copy or more copies, since the print run was limited to only 300 copies printed (of which about a hundred have already gone to Lucca!) And therefore believe that the book will soon be exhausted, then you can find only at a high price on the collector market.

Lovecraft Black & White , unlike all our other products, must be ordered directly to the person who masterfully organized the whole, that our worthy collaborator, and curatore del progetto, Umberto Sisia .

Here, however, we report a critical profile with the "history of publishing" the book written by the curator himself:

" Born a bit 'to bet and initially subdued, the" Lovecraft Black & White "has taken shape and has been gradually expanding through a large, continuous and hard work of recruiting contributions, including the preparation of as it should be at the end of the final product.
Thanks to dozens of artists who do not end up never to appreciate the skill, the availability of thanking and praising the exquisite courtesy, possiamo dire di avercela fatta!
Great masters of design and some new generation of safer future: all united to honor the work of Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
Only a few American books or some other Italian works well (and often very monographic or at the hands of a single author), in fact, had hitherto served as "artbook" in relation to the stories of Lovecraft, and also with are very different editorial choices. Comic books, "bestiary" manual role-playing games, ornamental illustrations, drawings extemporaneous, also a most valuable overview illustration on Lovecraftian over time (the latter in America) is illustrative of a whole world was produced with underlying motivations are often completely independent of the will to play "pictures" of various scenes of the most important stories Lovecraftian remaining members as possible to the spirit of the literature.
According to the guidelines of our project, each illustrator has, instead, chose a different Lovecraftian tale and has created an image on a scene or story that summed up some sequence. Obviously the most important stories have also inspired two pictures (in a couple of cases that you will find even three). The intention was therefore to be the scene of the story as seen through the eyes of a reader except the artist in fact, mediated through its design and creative and unique course through the dexterity of his playing style ...
The result is in our view, a sumptuous gallery where works of the invoice, follow one another very different technique and inspiration - all of great quality - page after page constantly causing a kaleidoscope of sensations and emotions in the reader. The element accomunante the various images is only one: the passion for the author and the highest possible fidelity to the spirit of his writing.
The title of the collection could only be " Lovecraft Black & White", of course, because the only mandatory rule and imperative given designers was to design and design thinking to reproduction in black and white and in that sense we believe that this initial choice has also led to a further more evocative.
Long is the list of contributors, with great artists such as Roberto Bodimani (dealing with "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"), Otto Gabos (looking in your palette, "The Colour Out of Space"), Alex Horley (its amazing Dunwich Horror!), Giancarlo Olivares (which seeks to explore the mysteries of "the one who whispered in the darkness"), Giuseppe Palumbo (lost in the depths of space-time with "The shadow dropped from the time"), Massimo Semerano (which wanders through the chaotic streets of the town of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"), Luca Enoch (who hears from his study "The music of Erich Zann") and many more, names well known in the comic strip and some outstanding rookie, like the brilliant Matthew Bocci already cover of Lovecraftian Studies. "
Each illustration is accompanied by the magnification of a detail from the reference track of the story to which it can be traced, and a comment at the hands of the same artist who shows us some twists, reveals some interesting tidbits about its implementation or talks about his relationship with the work of Lovecraft.

A greedy Lovecraftian news for gourmets is incoming, available from November ... The Dagon Press is pleased to announce it (and above you can see the poster advertising) an unmissable art-book dedicated to the genius of Providence: a spectacular gallery of pictures taken especially by well-known Italian and international guests, all united a tribute to the seminal literary creations of Howard Phillips Lovecraft .
The project, conceived and curated by Umberto Sisia , a talented scholar in the field of Lovecraftian Studies, sees each illustrator to deal with a story by HPL to create an image it inspired. The intent of the volume was to be a scene of the narrative through the eyes of an exceptional player, the artist indeed. Each illustration is accompanied by the song's reference to which can be traced back story and a comment at the hands of the same illustrator. The end result is
Lovecraft BLACK & WHITE , a dark homage to the chart, in strict black and white, monsters, characters, dreams, and the atmosphere of the tales of HPL, inexhaustible source of inspiration for ' contemporary imagery.

The book will be presented in a preview to Lucca Comics 2010 at some stands.

High Heels Brainstorm

Sardinia Antiqua, the table Esterzili

For a book on the table Esterzili
and tribal disputes in ancient Sardinia

Fernando Pilia

In March 1866 the farmer esterzilese Luigi Puddu,
nicknamed "Pibìnca, while plowing a small field in area of Munzu Franciscu has run in the area of \u200b\u200bcourts' and Luccetta, which formerly belonged to the heirs of Pietrino Serra now in possession of Ermenegildo Loi), noticed at once that the iron ploughshare of its rustic and traditional wooden plow was bumped into something hard and it was locked. Concerned about the curious and unexpected obstacle for the incident, the oxen yoked away from the groove, he began to dig with la zappa e riportò allo scoperto una lastra di bronzo scolpita, in ottime condizioni, lunga 60 centimetri, alta 45 cm., spessa 5 mm. e del peso di circa 20 chilogrammi, costituita da metallo ben compatto e di ottima qualità, sagomata in tutti i lati.
The Canon Cardia, who had a certain culture and was able to assess the merit of the discovery, he made contact with the eminent archaeologist canon and Senator John Spano who then ordered the epigraphic plate, carefully examined it, studied it with interest and advertising, eventually selling it to the National Museum of Sassari, where the so-called table Esterzili is still exposed in plain sight. The inscription, engraved in capital characters in twenty seven lines, expresses the following content:

day of March 18 during the consulate of Otho Caesar Augustus. Retrieved compliant, transcribed and collated by the information contained in Table 5, sections 8, 9 and the original document proconsul L. Elvio Agrippa and published by Gn. Egnazio Fusco, chancellor of the Commissioner. On the 13th of March the pro consul Lucius Elvio Agrippa, after hearing the parties, made public this sentence: "For the common good requires that we must take into account what is stated in the sentence because of
Patulcensi and since Marco Giovenzano Rissa, a man of great authority, prosecutor of the emperor, many times ordered that the boundaries of the territory of Patulcensi should be kept as they were set in the bronze tablet of Marco Metellus, believing that he was willing to condemn Galillensi , which in many circumstances had caused chaos with riots and acts arrogant and had not obeyed the decree, which nevertheless, in deference to the kindness of the Emperor Optimus Maximus, was still prepared to warn them with another manner in order that they were calm and following the just sentence and before the arrival of October evacuate the territories of Patulcensi respecting the free possession, and that if they wanted to continue the provocation with stubborn obstinacy opposed to orders, he was ready to punish all those who want to cause unrest, after the Galillensi for the same reason they were targeted at Cecilio Simple , illustrious man, claiming that the documents of the Imperial were willing to produce another table with the acts of this case, after he avéva fatto sapere che la buona volontà lo spingeva ancora a dare ulteriore proroga per la presentazione delle prove e per questo aveva loro concesso altri tre mesi fino ai primi di dicembre, trascorsi i quali, se la carta non gli fosse pervenuta, egli si sarebbe attenuto a quanto contenuto nella mappa presente in provincia, anch'io, adito dai Galillensi che affermavano che la copia non era ancora pervenuta, ho concesso loro tempo fino al primo di febbraio, rendendomi conto che a questi proprietari avrebbe fatto comodo un'altra proroga, ordino che i Galillensi, entro il primo giorno d'aprile, si ritirino dai territori dei Patulcensi Campani che hanno occupato di prepotenza senza averne alcun diritto. Qualora essi non siano disposti ad ubbidire a questo decreto, know that they will be condemned to death many times has been their approach to the excessive delay. Following
authentication Pompey Fierce, L. Aurelio Gallo, M. Bloss Nepos, C. Gordo Felice, L. Vigellio Crispino, C. Valerio Fausto, M. Lutazio Sabino, L. Cocceio Genius, L. Plotius True, D. Veturius Felice and L. Valerio peplum. (...) (...)

emphasize that this very important historical document, much to affect the administrative, legal, linguistic, geographical and epigraphic, is one of the few written documents submitted to us that shows us with plenty of data and the special situation of the sardines in the Roman imperial period, comfermando, inter alia, for the first time, the presence of Otho the throne of Rome. In fact, the date of 18 March (the year 69 AD) refers to one month and two days prior to the death by suicide after the defeat of the emperor tyrant Bedriacum at Cremona. Moreover, the bronze tablet found in the countryside Esterzili illuminates the story of a period of fierce and bloody battles between the tribes of the interior of the island, reveals a practically permanent state of guerrilla warfare, incursions and raids, explains the function the Roman rule and also provides interesting details and bureaucratic language. I think there
addresses identifying the seat of Galillenses that, in my opinion, it was on the plateau of Orborèdu, the plain at the foot of the mountain of Santa Vittoria, where you can still see the ruins of the Roman, the locals call Idda de Cea (ie the plateau of the Roman villa or oppidum), the valley flat up area rich in archaeological remains that attest to the importance and suggest this location as the site of the turbulent tribes Galillensi, always in agitation against the people of the plains and hills and valleys of Flumineddu Flumendosa
and fertile lands of the rich area of \u200b\u200bCampidani.
The attitude of the shepherds of the mountain poor of resources against the people of the fertile and rich lands of the south-east of the island's earliest origins and still preserves the tradition nuisance and trespass related to the practice abigeataria. Besides, even during the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, according to experienced pastors of this area in the parish books that have collected the chronicles of the community of our villages, the inhabitants of the area near the place where was found the famous table Bronze had maintained the same restless nature of violent invading neighboring areas. In fact, in the year 1358 the village of Lessee (now disappeared in the countryside Ulassai) paid for the rights of the feudal barons of the receivers or Incontrada Barbagia in Seoul, who had led an invasion of pastors esterzilesi to occupy territory beyond of Flumineddu. Moreover, as law in the "book de todas las gracias", dating from the last glimpses of the Catalan-Aragonese rule in May of 1580 community leaders in the villages of Ogliastra, meeting Tortolì parliament, demanded the intervention of the Earl of Quirra to get back shifts Pauli usurped by the shepherds to the community of Ulassai Esterzili-predators in violent actions. And these episodes were repeated until the end of last century, causing fights, furious quarrels, violent strife, bloodshed and many casualties seems to me that we should not try to find the home of Galillensi elsewhere, but in the light of these considerations, we should just linger in this barbaric, among Ogliastra, the Gerrei and Trexenta. In national exhibition of 1961 in Turin, Italy, for the exaltation of Italian culture on the centenary of the unit, representing the best of the cultural heritage of Sardinia, was also exposed the bronze tablet of courts' and Lucetta, an important document that sheds light on our events apart.

The importance of being indie

When I was little I miss the word indie existed. I tried to ask wikipedia but not known when this word is used. Oh well. I have started to feel around 1999, shortly before 2000. Then, over time there have been many occasions (festivals, concerts, readings, meetings of condominium) that I saw people indie work. From there I realized that being indie is not just something musical. be indie is a state of mind, a way to choose and wear clothes ... you can be in indie even wash the lettuce. Yes, I've also learned this. Until a few years ago I was in record stores and when I came in front of the column INDIE MUSIC I stop. I pondered. I reflected. observed. peered. names were catchy. record covers as well. in those moments I spent before I absorbed everything that column. names of the band, special covers, CD title, track listing.
then came home and felt like an arsonist without lighter.

if you were born in 2000 maybe I would be emo with a tuft, with a piercing respected and an unbridled passion for scorer.

Canning Carrots Fill And Flip

I "PORTRAITS IN MOONLIGHT" CARL JACOBI. The second volume of the series "The Giants of the Weird."

are now accepting pre-orders for the second anthology with "Selected Stories" by Carl Richard Jacobi, PORTRAITS IN MOONLIGHT, volume edited by Louis Musolino that has other sixteen outstanding unpublished short stories by the great master of the American weird. The book, lavishly illustrated with reproductions of vintage covers and drawings by pulp-magazines original, is ready to go to press, and as for the exit precedentre, will have a limited edition, which will be determined by the number of bookings received. This unique opportunity, therefore, to enrich its library of classics weird!
Given the nature and volume of specialty, as is characteristic of all the issues branded Dagon Press, the anthology will be made available for a short period, and there are no reprints. This offers readers and fans a wonderful opportunity to have an exclusive unique book, destined to become a treasure for collezionsti and a source of pride for those who can own it!

The stories presented in MOONLIGHT portraits reveal extraordinary capacity and reach of one of the greatest writers of fantasy literature of the pulp era. As a true master of the genre, Carl Jacobi had a highly evocative prose style, able to open up entire worlds to the imagination of readers. In this second volume are united in strictly chronological order, some of his best stories, atmosphere and variety ranging from horror and the macabre, the fantastic science fiction, though they are all covered by that particular sense of wonder that was the hallmark of the author. "Carl Jacobi," writes one of the world's leading experts of pulp literature, "is a clever writer whose stories of the supernatural, carefully constructed, are often worthy to be compared with those of HP Lovecraft" (see Lee Server, Encyclopedia of Pulp Fiction Writers , Checkmark Books, 2002, p. 155). And Lovecraft himself considered his talent "phenomenal" to the point of congratulating him in a letter, referring to the ability of narrative Jacobi, wrote that "... your versatility is certainly greater than mine. "

E i sedici capolavori qui riuniti, molti dei quali pubblicati sul mitico magazine, spiccano per qualità e atmosfera: da “Matthew South & Co.”, suggestiva psychological horror story that plays with the theme of "double" to "Witches in Maize," where acting by two grim magic scarecrow in "The Barrier Singleton," with its eerie landscape and left, and the horrors of witchcraft that open to the worlds beyond of the barrier. Without forgetting the "Portrait Moonlight," the story that gives the title to this collection, a supernatural fantasy reminiscent of Wilde and Hawthorne, and "Strange happenings at the Tavern of the Galloping Horse," with its exotic tale that revolves around the ruins of an ancient inn, home of old legends and superstitions, and its weird tower that evokes a past of piracy and witchcraft, whose horrors are reflected in the present. Here, then, the disturbing profile of the looming "Elcar Special", a mysterious car which changes the personalities of the men who lead it, and the spectral shape of the grotesque "Cocomacaque. And then there's the bizarre "theory LaPrell, one of the classical Jacobi, whose base is one of the favorite themes of the author: the existence of parallel universes and other dimensions that intersect with our world . And yet
stories, dipped into shadow and mystery. No one, after reading the "bad things to Carver House, forget the next atmosphere, dark and claustrophobic, Carver House, with its unpleasant things. In that dismal scenario, the County of Carver, Jacobi sets her tales weird. Here, his characters move in strange towns and lonely, desolate countryside or in misty hills, the places where everything rests on an unfortunate sense of suspense and menace. And where even the rural banality behind a wall crumbling follies and horrors may lurk timeless ... And here, once again, the shadow of Lovecraft is revealed behind such stories as "The Aquarium", which bring to mind the typical narrative situations and concerns of the Master of Providence, or "The Port of the Raven "with the horrendous sacrifices to a god-toad perpetrated on stone altars, the blasphemous grimoires and the dark mysteries of the past resurface to enthrall the present ...

PORTRAITS MOONLIGHT collects sixteen extraordinary stories that take us beyond the known horizons. E 'anthology unique and destined to become, like the other collection of Jacobi published by Dagon Press, REVELATIONS IN BLACK (already a rarity for collectors!) A true classic among Italian publications of fantastic literature. Every single story, remember, is preceded by an illuminating introduction by the curator Louis Musolino, which reveals the segreti dietro le storie o particolari inediti della vita dello scrittore.

studilovecraft@yahoo.it

The print run, as written in the beginning, it will be determined on the basis of the reservations came, and only a minimum amount of copies will be available for those who require it in the volume below. Hurry up then, and do not miss this opportunity!

VOLUMES COMING : In late September, as mentioned in another post, also published the first volume of "The Art of Tales of Dracula", with three blacks and great classic novels of Frank Graegorius, a true pioneer of the Italian horror writers, which will be read to younger fans a real discovery, and for older readers a recovery operation must. At this exit will be followed later this year, the publications of Luckundoo and Other Stories, with all the best horror stories, fantastic and strange as a master of Edward Lucas White, and therefore a true gift, Lovecraft Black & White, a patina illustratissimo and large-format volume, edited by Umberto Sisia soon we will reveal the secrets of this publication, which promises to be epic! Meanwhile, the curious can follow the progress of the project opened specifically for this blog: http://www.lovecraftblackandwhite.blogspot.com/
But other big and juicy news are in the pipeline, including projects in the pipeline and we anticipate that one, we are sure will please any lover of literature and a lover of weird and wonderful: Clark Ashton Smith will publish it Grimoire THE BLACK. Fantastic Notebooks: 1926-1961 (still provisional title) which is the full translation, annotated and expanded for the occasion of THE BLACK BOOK OF CLARK ASHTON SMITH , one of the rarest and most sought after books of the legendary publisher Arkham House. A cult book ever published in Italy, and never even reprinted in America! Stay tuned then
on these channels ... And as always, happy weird!

What Is The Best Bimetallic Strip And Why

Sindia revolt! AD SIGNA

From the ancient Nuraghe Sardi rebels observe the movements of the Roman army in transit along the valley .
Dark skin clad figures of the spears shake nervously, anticipating the battle against the hated invader.

After a work of "cleaning" some milites Romans brought a young man caught in a nearby village.
The conditions are clear, or the insurgents accepted the conditions and lay down their weapons or young person will be crucified. A
malinquore, the headman yells to return from whence they came. Yet he knows that saying those words to condemn his son. The milites
perform mercilessly cruel condemnation. Mock the dying young man and the women of the village close to cry now lifeless body.
With a heart full of anger, decided to attack the Sardinians. Some of them head-on, while a smaller group decides di aggirare i soldati alle spalle, ove la formazione è più vulnerabile.

Lovecraftian Studies 12: eBook revolution! AGENTS OF CHAOS

returns in this scorching summer Lovecraftian Studies of the aperiodic Dagon Press that, for the past five years, opens its pages to criticism and the study of Gentleman of Providence, Howard Phillips Lovecraft. And it does so in a different way than usual, with two important developments. The first is that the magazine has not in his usual paper, but in electronic form, while retaining all the features of page layout. One way to update this and catching up with the new reading technologies and at the same time also an attempt to try to relaunch the magazine itself, the most recent period has seen a decline in the number of readers. To celebrate the event then, and to promote the transition from paper to digital, the new number (and this is the second novelty) is offered to readers in a totally free and free hosting space on eBookGratis.net , the famous Italian portal dedicated to the ebook. All thanks to the collaboration of Alessio Valsecchi and popular site La Tela Nera ( http://www.latelanera.com/ ), a point of reference for all fans of horror.
Passing SL from traditional paper to electronic format is an experiment - it is hoped - will bring new readers discover the world of Lovecraftian Mythos, to study the figure and work of the writer who, more than any other, has revolutionized the horror and fantastic literature, marking the transition from Gothic to modern, old-fashioned to the supernatural. From next number 13, however, will also return the printed version of SL, which will complement the mail.
Introduced by a beautiful cover by illustrator Matthew Bocci, the content of this number 12 shows, even in this new look, full of content: over 200 pages of articles, essays and reviews on every aspect revolves around Lovecraft and his fantastic universe. More than a magazine, therefore, a true e-book in every respect!
And as always the best of Italian and international criticism is placed on the pages of Lovecraftian Studies . It starts with a real piece guncotton: detailed analysis and all-round sexual aspects in the narrative of HPL. Written by an expert and veteran of the magazine what Luca Foffano , in "Shadow of the exhibition" addresses the hot topic with meticulous skill and, we might say, with "lightness", without ever touching the trivial that a similar theme to "pupae and tentacles" may portend. But there are also several statements of the writer about his contempt and disregard for the appearance of "less" that he recognizes the existence of sexuality, quite sorprendentela his fiction expresses exactly the opposite!
Following is perhaps one of the longest essays (and interesting) from those presented in the pages of SL, reworking of a thesis of the Good Giulio show where four recurrent themes in Lovecraft that prove significant for a greater understanding of the author. And yet, through an "anatomical dissection and literature of the Old Lovecraftian, operated with almost surgical precision by Umberto valid Sisia , you get to another one of the most original pieces in this issue: in" The Music by Erik S .'ll find, in fact, who was the true inspiration for Lovecraft, who - but the real life character as fascinating and mysterious of his fictional counterpart - the enigmatic musician behind the story of the Elsewhere The Music of Erich Zann . A novelty then, and even an absolute revelation for the more savvy among fans Lovecraftian! To guide us in this discovery is Renzo Giorgetti .
E 'then the time of the most experienced of HPL in the world, who more than anyone helped to bring the figure at the top of genre fiction. In the first Italian translation, so here's the piece of ST Joshi comparison between Lovecraft and Fritz Leiber, originally appeared in the pages of Studies in Weird Fiction . The translation was entrusted to one of the most careful work leiberiana experts we have in Italy, Davide Mana , which has also made available to readers a true rarity: Leiber never forget a poem reprinted since its first publication in 1945 in an old American fanzine.
And finally, last but not least , has a place in this issue an interesting dossier on the influence of Lovecraft in popular games, a brilliant and comprehensive digression which gives us a guide Matthew Poropat , in his first appearance in the pages of Lovecraftian Studies.
All this and much more, reviews, reports and critical literature, assorted curiosities (in the "Cthulhu News") is placed on SL 12 , remember that you can download free on eBookGratis.net . E questa è la pagina di riferimento: http://www.ebookgratis.net/ebook.asp?id=469

How Do Women Pee Without Getting Wet?

A tennis match can make you understand the life ... Pele VS

A tennis match can make you understand life, yes. It 'happened yesterday evening from 20 to 21 hours.
In the mountains waiting for him. It was the summer 2010 meeting. Serena Williams (aka Giovanni Antonio Raffaele Maria Sharapova VS Giovanditti MakkiMauro aka Michael Douglas). The excitement was palpable even during the heating phase. The two tennis players are scrutinized, intercepted the weaknesses of the other, defied his eyes, crossed labors are most severely affected.
The set itself has got two strong emotions to the audience (me and Dominic) arrived on a Fraccacreta do not miss the excitement. The two fans to the top side with Michael Douglas MakkiMauro then one of two (Dominic) who chooses to leave is unfair Serena Williams on her own (or perhaps because he sensed his haughty and arrogant excessive power?) And the two athletes also share out the cheering. The set, I said it finished 6-4 to Serena Williams, a strong and enviable physical condition an infinite resistance, suffered in the middle phase of the set a MakkiMauro willing. MakkiMauro, yes, he, on a 4-0 athlete who exclaimed: "today have no legs" and then loudly as he tried to Rocky remuntada but coming to a game below. The successful athlete power and random color SW has done that at the end of the set, threw in the towel and MakkiMauro concedesse opponent scepter of Princess of the 2010 summer tennis. After
tennis makes you realize that if you are lucky may even win the imagination.
